FCET, Umunze Elects New Deans In 3 Schools For 2016/17 Session

A milestone was recorded on Friday 2nd
December, 2016 when the College
Management conducted Deanship election
in three schools for the 2016/2017
academic session.
This development closed the chapter of
appointing Dean for the various schools in
the College, thereby allowing the
academic staff of the various schools to
make their own choices. Across the
participating schools, excited academic
staff peacefully voted for the candidates of
their choice. This singular act endeared
the Prof. J. O. Ogbuagu led-
administration to the hearts of many
academic staff of the College for
upholding the hallmark of democracy and
fairness in the conduct of internal election.
The exercise involved the School of
Science Education, School of Fine &
Applied Arts Education, and School of
Industrial Technology Education. During
the election, members of academic staff of
each school nominated the contestants
and voted for each accordingly. The
Deanship ticket was open to Chief
Lecturers in the respective Schools.
Three names were nominated and
observers ensured ‘strict compliance to
‘’one man, one vote.” After the collation of
the results, Israel Juliana, Uche Bella Onu,
and Rev. Nwafuluaku Matthew won with
wide margins from the School of Science
Education, School of Fine &Applied Arts
Education, and School of Industrial
Technology Education respectively. In a
congratulatory speech, the Provost of the
College, Prof. J. O. Ogbuagu, mni, heartily
felicitated with the new Deans, noting that
their emergence was a proof of their
acceptance by their colleagues. He,
therefore, urged them to work assiduously
for the welfare of the staff and students of
their respective schools and for the
College Community in general. In their
separate acceptance speeches, the newly
elected Deans thanked everyone for the
confidence reposed on them and promised
to live up to expectation.
They further solicited for the unalloyed
support of their colleagues to oversee the
affairs of the Schools creditably. Earlier
before the election, the out-going Dean,
School of Sciences, Dr Ejezie V. N,
thanked the staff of the school for the
cooperation she enjoyed, while in office
and urged them to lend the same support
to her successor.
