Netherlands finds Creative ways to use Empty Prisons | WATCH

Officials in the Netherlands have found creative ways to use their prisons after experiencing a shortage of prisoners.
According to the New York Times, Dutch prisons have been rented out to Belgium and Norway, and some have even been turned to centers for asylum seekers, but there are still too many spaces than there are prisoners.

Although the vacant spaces have been rented out to offices for use during the day, it is what goes on at night that’s the most interesting.
The prison in Breda transforms to a real life prison break center at night, with 350 (yes, 350!) volunteers locked in.
10 escape routes are provided, and the volunteers are expected to find them before the night is over.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, an official said, “What we try to do is recreate traditional prison movies like Shawshank Redemption, Escape from Alcatraz in real life.”
