I woke up to see a purported Article by Cross
River Watch blog containing a petition by the Attorney General of Cross River
State, Mr Joe Abang seeking to arrest me to appear before the Commissioner of
Police Cross River State. The article further alleged that the Attorney General
of Cross River State has written to the Inspector General of Police seeking my
immediate arrest.
Mr. Abang got a call from one Sgt. Oyama in the Force Criminal
Intelligence and Investigation Department, Abuja on January 20, 2018 to report
in Abuja to answer to a petition bordering on a case of criminal conspiracy,
unlawful possession of firearms and attempted murder. The call to the Attorney
General of Cross River State became necessary after he had instructed staff of
the Cross River State Ministry of Justice to refuse the letter of invitation to
report to the Police Force Headquarters, Criminal Investigation and
intelligence Department, Abuja.
According to Agba Jalingo Cross River Watch, a media outlet
on retainership with the Cross River State Government, the Attorney
General in a letter dated January 24, 2018, titled:
“RE: Alleged Investigation Of The Attorney General Of Cross River State And
Other Government Functionaries” and signed by the Solicitor General and
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice in the state, Mr. Peter Bassey,
the State claimed that Mr. Odok is a suspect currently taking refuge in Abuja
after refusing to surrender himself for investigation at the Cross River State
Police command for conduct likely to cause breach of peace and inciting the
good people of Cross River State against the Cross River State Government and
his penchant for addressing serving government officials as cultists and
assassins all in a desperate frenzy to discredit the Cross River State
Government. I have never failed to respond to any invitation by the Police, my
contact information is before the Nigerian Police, I have been attending
interviews with some suspects to my attempted murder in the Police Force
Headquarters Abuj. I think the Attorney General of Cross River State should
apply the law and always act as an intelligent law Officer rather hang
spreading falsehood against my person
It is no news that many voices in Cross River State have risen to
suspect that most members of the Cross River State Government appointees are
cultists. The National Vice Chairman of APC, Ntufam Hilard Eta and even
the media consultant to Ayade, Mr Agba Jalingo have not hidden this fact
that Ayade’s government is infiltrated with cultists. More so, the
increasing cult crisis, inter communal crisis, assassinations,
kidnapping, extra judicial killings, proliferation of arms, and
related crisis in the state and the complacent attitude of the Cross
River State Government strongly justify some of these suspicion
As a custodian of law in Cross River State, the Attorney General of Cross
River State Mr Joe Abang ought to be a respecter of the law. He failed when he
instructed his staff of ministry of justice not to accept the invitation of the
Police to answer questions bothering on my assassination attempt. After being
called by the Police he began step to hoodwink the law to protect himself and
his brother and my principal suspect Mr Kris Abang from appearing before the
Criminal and intelligence Department, Nigerian Police Headquarters Abuja.
Rather than attend to invitation by the Nigerian Police, he rather sought to
invite me to Cross River State Police Command on frivolous allegations of inciting
the public against the Cross River State Government and my suspicions of the
infiltration of the Ayade’s cabinet with cultists and miscreants
It is worthy of note that agents of the Cross River State
government have been restless in their attempt to compromise a clear case of
assassination attack using the Cross River State organ of the Homeland Security
with the DG as the key suspected assailant. Their first attempt at compromising
the case was when they used state machinations to kill my assassination attempt
case in the the Cross River State police command. Not giving up in the search
for justice I petitioned for the transfer and takeover of the case by the
Inspector General of Police, my application was granted and arrested suspects
and my case file were transferred to the Police Criminal and intelligence
Department, Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
From investigation proceedings, the DG Cross River State
Homeland Security and his girl friend Patience Odey confessed that they were
acting on the instruction of the State Security Adviser to the Cross River
State Government whom the DG Cross River State Homeland Security Mr. Rapheal
Odu claimed to be the direct boss. From his confessional statement the Police
invited the SSA to the Cross River State Government Mr Jude Ngaji and he
honoured the invitation and is currently being investigated as one of the
suspects to my attempted murder
More drastic attempt to compromise my attempted murder case was
heightened. Agents of Cross River State Government through the Permanent
Secretary Inter Governmental Affairs, Abuja liaison office wrote a petition to
the Inspector General of Police for the transfer of the case to the Cross River
State Police Command. The language of their letter was an assault on the Inspector
General of Police as they queried the Police for inviting top government
officers of the Ben Ayade’s Government. They failed in their attempt to
compromise my attempted murder case and the police reaffirmed their
constitutional rights to investigate any matter that bothers on crime.
With further evidences before the Nigerian Police, it became
necessary to invite the Attorney General of Cross River State Government,
Secretary to the Cross River State Government, the Chief of staff to the
Cross River State Government, the Vice Chancellor University of Calabar
and the key suspect to my attempted murder and a brother to the Attorney
General of Cross River State Government who was employed by the Vice Chancellor
a day after my assassination attack. The police were mobilised to disperse
letters to the suspects with the Attorney General and some of the suspects
refusing service
Upon the receipt of the invitation by the Police, my Vice
Chancellor through a fiat ordered for my immediate suspension from the University
of Calabar invited reason of Criticizing him . The Attorney General of Cross
River State immediately petitioned to the Cross River State Command, who wrote
to my Vice Chancellor for invitation and arrest. Being more desperate, the
Attorney General of Cross River State further petitioned to the Inspector
General of Police seeking for the transfer of the matter to the Cross River
State Police Command . It is worthy of note that the Attorney General of
Cross River State have boasted in some quarters that he will discontinue the
judicial process of persecution of suspects to my assassination attempt
using his constitutional rights as the Attorney General of the state. Yes the
Attorney General has some rights given to him by the Constitution of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria, yes he has constitutional rights to continue, and
discontinue any criminal matter, he is however not in any form of immunity that
protects him from investigation by the Police. Only the President, Vice
President and the Governors enjoy the privileges of constitutional
immunity. As a Chief Law Officer of the State, the Cross State Attorney
General should advice the Cross River State Government to release the suspects
to my murder attempt to answer questions before the police rather than taking
steps to frustrate the prosecution of a high profile case of attempted murder
or seeking to transfer a case that was once compromised by the Cross River
State Police Command. As an agent of the Federal Government, the Cross River
State police Command that once handled investigation to my attempted murder
since the 4th of September must distance itself from the negative
application of law by the Attorney General of Cross River State,
thereby safeguarding the eroding integrity of the Nigerian Police
The Cross River State Government must not continually be silent
despite increasing attempt by the agents of his administration to compromise a
clear case of attempted murder on me. The continued silence of the state
government (and the attempt of his top political appointees inclusive of the
office of the Attorney General to compromise a clear case of attempted murder )
seems to create a bad name for the Ayade’s government This will further
create an impression that the CRS Government may have directly instructed
his agents to kill me because of my criticism of his policies
The fact that members of the Ayade’s government failed to respect
their invitation to the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters Abuja on the 24th
January 2018 without
any communication with the Nigerian Police is an affront on the Nigerian
Police. My case of attempted murder happened on the 4th of September 2017, and the
Attorney General of Cross River State is only trying to prop up allegations of
criminally inciting the public against the government of Cross River State as
dramatic turn around and attempt to escape investigation and criminal
prosecution. This is but a surreptitious ploy to dismiss the allegations
against the Attorney General of Cross River State and top government appointees
as a “façade, politically motivated and founded in baseless falsehood
deliberately contrived and fabricated in a bid to frustrate the attainment of
justice
I called on well meaning Nigerians, NGOs, Human Rights
Activists and the good people of Nigeria to join hands with me to fight those
who have become so desperate as to kill when criticised. We must all join our
voice and call on the Inspector General of Police to quickly step into my case
and facilitate the cause of justice.
