Grandmother abuses 3 Kids, accused them of Witchcraft in Cross River

A grandmother, named Christiana James, age unknown, has abused and accused her three (3) grandchildren of Witchcraft in Akampka Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The 3 kids, aged 3, 5 and 13 were almost murdered following an inhumane tortured by the wicked woman who happened to feed them only when they sell sachet (pure water).

The 3 children are double orphans who stopped school when their parents passed on. Currently, they hawk sachet water daily (for their grandmother) to qualify to have a meal.
When a Child Protection Network and Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), a non-profit organisation based in Calabar, the state capital got the information, they had to intervene and took the victims under their care.
According to the Executive Director of BRCI, Mr. James Ibor, the perpetrator of this dreadful crime is known to the Police as Nsikak. “Nsikak was invited by the kids grandmother to interrogate the kids about witchcraft”.
Speaking further to NIGERIAPEN, Ibor said, “The kids told me that they accepted to the charge due to the pain they where subjected to. Their grandmother is currently in Police custody while Nsikak is at large.
“Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI) does not support the branding of witches. We will work with the Police to charge the suspects to court. The Cross River Child’s Right Law, 2009 clearly forbids anyone from branding a child as a witch.
“The opinion of the law is our opinion at BRCI. The kids have been rescued and are currently at our Emergency Center.
“We are ashamed that the belief in witches and wizards today in our community has diminished our humanity. SHAME! SHAME!! SHAME!!!”.
The BRCI has been severally involved in the rescue of cases of branded witchcraft in Cross River State. In 2017 alone, they recorded about 10 cases and are pushing further to ensure the act is abolished in the state.
