Police in Uganda have offered Shs100 million bounty for suspected killers of Suzan Magara, a 28-year-old cashier who was kidnapped three weeks ago.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura at police headquarters in Kampala on Tuesday, AIGP Abbas Byakagaba said police has secured the voice recording of the suspect.
The body of Magara, who has been missing since February 7 was found on Tuesday morning, February 27, by residents of Kigo, along the Southern bypass who later alerted the police.
Magara, a cashier with Bwendero Dairy Farm (BDF) was reportedly kidnapped while driving to her home in Lungujja, Rubaga Division. Her motor vehicle was found abandoned on the roadside after her kidnap.
There were reports that her kidnappers asked for USD1 million ransom. The police Flying Squad had been handling the search for Magara.
Another source within the unit the family had stopped partnering with the Police shortly after they were asked for a ransom of Shs60 million by the suspected kidnappers.
"The kidnappers warned them not to bring in the police or their loved one would be killed," says the source that preferred anonymity.
