Moses lone goal hands Super Eagles victory over Poland

Victor Moses scored a 61 minutes penalty as Nigeria continued with their impressive 2018 World Cup preparations by defeating Poland 1-0 at the Stadion Miejsk on Friday evening.
It was a cagey affair between the two side with both managers making a strong line up to test players for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia in less than 3 months and the Chelsea winger did show his class as he converts the penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner.
The White and Reds had a solid campaign during the qualifiers as they topped Group E ahead of Denmark, Montenegro, Romania, Armenia and Kazakhstan
Adam NawaÅ‚ka’s men are ranked sixth in world and are certainly the stronger side making them favourites to win on home soil, but the Super Eagles were able to keep the likes of Robert Lewandowski as they clinch up yet another victory after thumping Argentina later on.
The Super Eagles also had a stronger qualifying phase where they finished ahead of Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria in what was tagged the ‘group of death’, and their defensive rock paid off with a fine victory to keep their 100% starts in 2018 on track.
Gernot Rohr’s choice between the sticks against the Poles generated the most attention prior to the encounter and the German tactician settled it by handing youngster Francis Uzoho his full debut.
In absence of captain John Obi Mikel, Joel Obi, given his first Super Eagles cap since his last outing in a friendly against Scotland in May 2014, partnered Wilfried Ndidi at the heart of midfield while Brian Idowu got the nod ahead of Elderson Echiejile at left-back.
The line-up was able to keep out the likes of Lewandowski, Rafal Kurzawa and the Eagles had their moments when Moses pick up the ball after being fooled by Marcin Kaminski to layoff past substitute goalkeeper, Bartosz Blalkowski
Nigeria will hope to continue with their positive World Cup preparations when they face Serbia at the Hive Stadium on March 27.
