Suspected herdsmen yesterday killed a village head in Logo local government area in Benue state. The attackers stormed the community with hordes of cattle, destroyed farmlands and opened fire on the village head identified as Mister Ninge.
The deceased was on his farm when the gunmen arrived and shot him on his back. He died instantly.
Confirming the attack, the state police command in a statement said “The command had at about 1100hours, received report of a man later identified as a village head killed by yet to be identified bandits on his farm in Logo LGA.”
The attack comes a day after suspected herdsmen ambushed a police patrol team killing four police officers in the Logo LGA.
